Reasons of poor forming of ball press machine

The ball press machine can be used to press various powders such as coking coal, aluminum powder, iron powder, iron filings, tailings, sludge, slag, gypsum, etc. However, in actual use, it is sometimes found that the ball press machine is not good at pelletizing, such as loose balls and deformation, etc. What is the reason of the poor forming of ball press machine?

Generally speaking, there may be two reasons for the poor forming of ball press machine, one is the machine itself, and the other is the material granularity.

1.Machine reasons. 

It doesn’t mean that there is a problem with the machine itself, but mean that there is a problem with the debugging of the machine. After the ball press machine is delivered and installed, technicians will debug the equipment. No-load debugging can check whether the equipment is faulty, and load debugging can adjust the feeding speed, feeding amount, molding pressure, roller spacing and so on. When the molding pressure is insufficient, it will lead to loose balls; If the feeding speed is too fast, it will lead to insufficient material in the ball socket of the roller, forming a virtual ball.

2.The reason of material granularity. 

If the particle size of the material is small, it is easy to aggregate, while if the particle size is too large, it is difficult. From the physical point of view, if the granularity is small, the gap between them will be small, and if the granularity is large, the gap will be large. Therefore, before the ball press machine is pressed, it is necessary to do a good job of crushing. In addition, if the particle size of raw materials is too large, the wear speed of roller skin of ball press machine will increase during pressing, and if some unrecognizable high-hardness impurities are mixed in, the roller skin will be more likely to be damaged.

To solve the problem that ball press machine is not easy to form, we need to start from the following aspects.

1.Debugging of ball press equipment should be in place. Especially, load debugging is particularly critical. Prepare production materials when purchasing, and conduct trial production in the ball press machine manufacturer to determine the specifications of ball press machine; In the load experiment, according to the characteristics and production technology of the production materials, the feeding speed and quantity are determined, and then the line pressure and other parameters are determined.

2.Particle size of raw materials. Smaller particle size of materials is beneficial to the close arrangement of particles. If the particle size is too large or too small, it is easy to cause the phenomenon that it is difficult to form, so it is especially important to do a good job of crushing.

3.Prevent sundries from entering the raw materials. The material should be treated with iron removal, and it is forbidden for iron filings or other hard objects to enter the material, otherwise the roller skin will be damaged.

4.Water content of raw materials. Appropriate amount of water can play a good role as lubricant and improve the mechanical strength. However, if there is too much water, the surface layer of particles becomes thicker and the water content is large, it is easy to cause the bonding between the material and the pressing roller, which will lead to the incomplete shape of the product and affect the balling rate.
