Straw briquette feed refers to the high temperature, high pressure and high density compression of crop straw or forage grass after chopping and crushing (generally 32×32×50mm, density 0.7—1 kg/m3), commonly known as “compressed biscuits” and “convenience food” for cattle and sheep. Straw briquette feed, as a new product of science and technology, is welcomed by the majority of users. Straw briquette feed has high density and is convenient for storage and transportation; Sterilization and insect killing, long-term preservation without deterioration; After high-temperature compression, the feed changes from raw to cooked, with burnt flavor and improved palatability. The feed has a wide range of raw materials, and corn straw, bean straw, wheat straw, peanut seedling, sweet potato seedling, rice straw and almost all crop straws can be used to make briquette feed.

When there are some problems in the production of straw briquette feed, we should pay attention to them.

1, Straw collection and treatment

After collection, straw should be treated as follows: First, drying, and the humidity of straw briquettes should be controlled within 20%, preferably 16% ~ 18%; The second is chopping or kneading and crushing. Before chopping or kneading and crushing, we must remove the metal objects, stones and other sundries in the straw. Chopping length should be controlled at 30 ~ 50 cm. After chopping, the straws are stacked for 12 ~ 24h, so that the humidity of all parts of chopped straws is uniform. When the water content is low, some water should be properly sprayed to keep the humidity at 16% ~ 18%. Matters needing attention in straw collection and treatment: First of all, according to the regional straw resources, the main straw varieties used for briquette feed production should be determined, with leguminous straw as the first choice, followed by gramineous straw. In addition, no mildew of straw raw materials is the basic requirement to ensure the quality of straw briquette feed. Therefore, in the process of straw collection and treatment, firstly, it is necessary to ensure that moldy straw is not collected; Second, the collected straw should be properly preserved to prevent mildew.

2, Add nutrients

In order to make the straw feed directly feed livestock after being dissolved in water, a proper amount of nutrients can be added in the briquetting process to make it a complete nutritional feed. According to the general needs of livestock, add proper amount of concentrated feed and nutrients in proportion, and mix them evenly.

3, Use briquetting machine to briquette 

Matters needing attention in straw briquetting are as follows. ① Start the briquetting machine to idle for 10min, and add a small amount of materials under normal conditions to gradually reach the maximum normal addition. ② Observe the density of straw briquettes at any time, and adjust the control valve to keep the density between 0.45 and 0.7g/cm3. ③ After the briquetting, the briquetting machine should be maintained.

4, Straw briquette storage

Pack the finished briquette feed according to the requirements, store it in a dry and ventilated warehouse, and regularly check whether the temperature rises to prevent mildew. Straw briquetting technology is suitable for areas with large straw yield, large-scale feeding or a large number of spare straw raw materials for other places.
